La Semana Santa Marinera de València was born from the faith of the men and women who lived near the sea and, since time immemorial, has been celebrated in the neighborhoods of Grau, Canyamelar and Cabanyal where the city embraces with Mediterranean Sea.
History teaches us that sailor peoples, in all times and places, have needed to feel the presence of divinity close, requesting their protection in difficult times. It is not strange, then, that when spring comes, the celebrations of the Holy Week in Valencia de València offer numerous testimonies of the intimate relationship between religion and the idiosyncrasy of seafarers.
